Quick start: your first agent

Welcome to your Lowkey box. This walks you from a fresh, empty instance to your first working agent in four short steps: sign in → connect a provider → create an agent → send a message. It takes a few minutes, and you only do it once.

A brand-new box starts empty on purpose — no sample agents, no half-configured accounts. The steps below fill it in.

Open your box’s web address (something like https://you.lowkeyagents.com). The front door hands you to Google — sign in with the Google account you were invited with, and you’ll land in Lowkey.

That’s the only login you’ll do. From here on, Lowkey remembers you.

2. Connect your first provider

An agent needs an engine to think and work — a Claude, Codex, Gemini, or Grok account. This is what Lowkey calls a provider. Your agents can’t do anything until at least one is connected, so this comes first.

Go to Settings → Providers and click Add account. A short wizard walks you through it:

Choose provider. Pick the service your subscription is with — for a Claude plan, that’s Anthropic.
Choose sign-in method. For a normal Claude plan, pick Anthropic subscription (this uses your plan’s included usage). The other option, Anthropic API key, is for a developer API account that’s billed per token — most people don’t need it.
Choose where it runs. Pick Claude Code. This is the path that connects an ordinary Claude subscription. (You may also see Claude Agent SDK — that is not a second kind of Claude subscription. It’s a separate developer harness that bills per token against an API account, so leave it alone unless you know you want it.)
Sign in. Click Sign in, open the link it gives you, sign in at Anthropic, and copy the one-time authorization code back into Lowkey. Click Continue once it says you’re authenticated.
Name it. Give the account any label you like (your email works well) and click Create account.

The account now shows up on the Providers page as connected. Connecting another provider later works exactly the same way.

3. Create your first agent

An agent is the character you actually talk to — a name, a personality, and the provider it runs on. Go to Settings → Agents. On a fresh box you’ll see a Create your agent prompt; click it (or New) to open the form.

Name it whatever you like — say, Skye. The ID fills in automatically.
Execution provider is already set to the account you just connected. Leave it as-is.
Voice can stay on System default.
Personality is optional — a sentence or two on how the agent should talk. You can always tune it later.

Click Add agent, then Save at the top of the page. Your first agent automatically becomes the default — the one new conversations use.

4. Send your first message

Open a project, go to the Chat tab, and type a message the way you’d text a person — “Introduce yourself and tell me what you can help with.” Send it, and your agent replies and gets to work.

That’s it. Your box is live.
