Connecting your AI accounts
For the owner or an admin on your Lowkey, and only on plans where your agents run on your own AI subscriptions.
Your agents think with AI models from providers like Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini) and xAI (Grok). On some plans the Lowkey team supplies those models and there’s nothing for you to set up. On others, your agents run on your own subscriptions, and you connect those accounts here.
How to tell which you have: open Settings. If there’s no Providers section, the Lowkey team supplies the models and you can skip this page. If you see Providers and you’re an admin, it’s yours to manage.
The Accounts list
Section titled “The Accounts list”Open Settings → Providers. The Accounts section lists every connected account. Expand one to see how it’s doing: whether its sign-in is healthy, which plan it’s on, who it’s signed in as, and how much of its usage limits it has left.
Adding an account
Section titled “Adding an account”Click Add account and follow the steps:
- Choose provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, and the other options your Lowkey offers.
- Choose sign-in method — usually your subscription (for example Anthropic subscription or OpenAI account), or an API key if you’d rather pay per use.
- Choose where it runs — the tool your agents use with this account (for example Claude Code for an Anthropic subscription). Often there’s only one choice.
- Sign in — one of two ways, depending on the provider:
- Copy a code back (Claude): open the link, sign in on the provider’s own page, and paste the code it gives you into Lowkey. The link is valid for 5 minutes.
- Enter a code there (GPT and Grok): Lowkey shows a link and a one-time code. Open the link, sign in, enter the code, and approve. Lowkey notices on its own once you’ve approved; the code expires in 15 minutes.
- For an API key, paste the key instead.
- Name this account — something you’ll recognise, like Work Claude, then Create account.
You sign in on the provider’s own page, so you never type your provider password into Lowkey.
Signing in with a Google account for Gemini isn’t offered on every Lowkey yet. If you don’t see it, use a Google API key or ask the Lowkey team.
More than one account
Section titled “More than one account”If you have more than one subscription with the same provider, add each as its own account. On the last step, Route through lets you put the new account in the same pool as an existing one, so agents already using that provider can use either account.
Each pool has a selection policy under Providers:
- Healthiest — new conversations go to the account with the most headroom.
- Ordered failover — use accounts in order, and fall through to the next when one can’t run.
Seeing usage and limits
Section titled “Seeing usage and limits”Each account shows its usage limits as bars where the provider reports them. Some providers don’t, and the card says so (Not exposed by provider). API-key accounts are metered — billed per use with no limit window.
Each card also shows how much work it has carried: turns, tokens in and out, and time. In a conversation, each finished turn can show a small label like ~18K in / 2.1K out. Use these to spot a scheduled job that has suddenly got heavy, or one account doing most of the work.
When an account needs attention
Section titled “When an account needs attention”If a sign-in expires or a key stops working, the account shows it. Open the account’s ⋯ menu and choose Re-authenticate (or Replace API key) to sign in again. The same menu has Rename and Remove account…; removing an account disconnects it from Lowkey.
